We seemed to only be half way to my house after ten minutes past. I could feel my skin increasing in temperature, and the exhaustion was being to take it’s toll. I could feel the change creeping up on me and I hoped with everything I had that it would wait just a little longer. “You feel so hot Kori,” Josh said worry clear in his voice. “I’ll be fine once I get-” I suddenly gasped as a sharp pain ran through my entire body. “No… Not now…” I wheezed. “Kori! What’s going on?” He said abruptly stopping. “KEEP GOING!” I screamed at him, but it only came out as a faint whisper. He broke into a run.

We made it the rest of the way in half the time it would have taken if he had continued to walk. We both were panting with exhaustion, him from running with me in his arms, me from trying the best I could to keep the scales from bursting from my skin. “Are your parents home?” He asked breathlessly as he set me down. I nodded. I rung the door bell and my mom was there in seconds. When she saw me she quickly helped me inside before I even had a chance to say anything more to Josh. She thanked him for his help then closed the door. I managed to make it to the couch and fell into it. My body shook from the amount of strength it took to keep under control. Now I was safe from curious eyes and to weak to fight it any longer. The pain overcame me and blackness clouded my vision.
