War. That's the one word that now fits Earth like a glove. War. Now, here on March 12, 3045, Asia, Europe, South America, and Africa attacked us. Australia is alone, just like we are. We were all unprepared. Even though we do have missles, even when we fire bombs onto their soil, they just attack back 8 times more powerful then one simple missle. Men. Women. Children. It doesn't matter who the enemy is to them, they are killing us to win. America, the strongest counrty and best artillery. What a joke that is. It fell apart when this just started. So, now its up to me, Alison Hudgeons and 20 more of my good friends to defend our homes. The diffuculty for this task is off the scale. Times have changed, and we will not be against just men with guns, we will be against every living creature that imagination as ever experienced. Robots, gentically changed human beings, and monsters of all shapes and sizes. We are not much, but I, and my team will do everything to save and protect the ones we love. Also, one another. Right now, its like Darwin said, 'survival of the fittest.'

Chapter 1: Alison
"Alison! Alison!" a voice screeched to me. Budging in my fairly uncomfortable 'bed', I find myself aching along my back. The floor was never comfortable to sleep on. "Alison! We have some bombs coming this way! Hurry up!" the voice shouted. I glance over weakly to Peter, the sleep still in my eyes and my vision a blur. Gathering myself, I see his face more clearly. Peter was not the greatest looker but he had his tributes. Bright bleach blonde hair that was very short and he had the most alluring azure eyes. Though, at the moment, he looked like a hermit with his unshaven face, which made him look terrible and old, only being 25. "All right!" I scoff to him. He always drove me crazy with his worrying additude. Though, who was to blame? It was war and everyone is worried or afraid so, maybe I shouldn't get on Pete's case too harshly. "Come on get going you old slow camel!" he hissed, hopping from my small cave. Or, so called, 'my room.' Maybe, I spoke a little too soon on that little thought. I hiss to myself, following quickly behind Peter as he slithered through the war like wreckage, the roads cracked and overlaping one another, making it look like a small steep hill of mounded street. The mounds had large gaps which created their own small tunnels which all of us used as a camp and also cover from gun fire. Everyone of us owned a gun, big or small, machine or sniper rifle. We had all we could get from defeated enemies. I, was in charge of the sniper guns and the chosen sniper for the batalion.

Peter paced ahead of me. Then, I soon find myself being followed by the others in our squad. Three to be exact. Alan, Shana, and Robert were with Peter, dropping off important messages to everyone, like now. Shana is a dynamic woman and can never say 'no' in a battle. It always takes about five minutes for anyone to convince her to go down to the shelter. She always wants to fight against God, challenge Him and try and defeat Him. Though, probably the only reason she acts so stupidly, is because she is blonde. In my opinion, the joke about 'dumb blondes' is not a thought, its a fact. Moving on, Alan is nothing close to a fighter like Shana. Though, the reason is probably because he is only 11. He stands about 5 feet tall and is Robert Gonzalez' only son. Their mother and wife, Elizabeth, died from the first bomb that was dropped here in Philidelphia. Robert, I estimate, is about 31. Fairly good looking, tall, and tan mexicano skin. He has the usual black hair and a has no visible facal hair. "Everyone else is already underground! We have to hurry now!" Robert said with his American-Mexican slur. Little Alan was falling behind, too busy looking at the streams in the sky, heading this way. I shove my hands outward, making Peter move his ass a bit faster. "Come on move it you camel!" I hiss with a sarcastic tone. Peter doesn't look at me, but gave a small 'hmph' under his breath. What a brat.

"Alan! Come on! Get over here right now!" Robert hissed, grabbing his son and shoving him in front. Alan, stunned by his sudden movements, ran ahead to the shelter. I allow him to cut in front. Always best to put the little ones ahead so they can get in the hole first. Peter allowed him to cut through him as well and we continued to run ahead. I could hear the missles getting closer and closer to the ground. "Peter get a move on!" I snarl. "Shut up Alison!" he snorted back. "What do you think I'm doing!" "You mean besides getting us killed!" I retort.

Peter only grunted in return. By now, we were running as fast as our legs could carry us, Alan trudging ahead of us, going as fast as his little legs could go. Alan dove to the shelter, a few others catching his fall before he slammed his chin hard on the ground. "HURRY!!" a voice wooed frightfully. "Yeah Peter!!" I hiss, shoving him harshly. He stumbled and almost lost his balance. "If I'd had fallen, you would've been sorry!" "No I wouldn't, we'd just step over you!" I shot back. "Now hurry!" We rushed lower into the ground. Looking farther down we heard the yells of the others, coaxing us quickly forward. We all dove to like dolphins toward the shelter, scraping a few limbs on the way down. Robert, collected himself quickly and shut the base door behind him. The moment the door shut, a huge boom pierced our ears like a festival of screaming banshee's. I close my ears from the pain and shut my eyes from the images in my mind. I can't help but imagine, the last cries of people as they watched the bomb hit their mother earth. The last prays to God before they were incinerated under dust and flame. It frightened I could feel that tears were alreadly flowing down along my dirty face. Suddenly, a large blow of sand struck at the shelter down and struck it down like a wrecking ball to a wall. We screeched, fearing the worst. Usually when a bomb came, after the dust, came the fire. We bundled together, each of us clutching the one closest to us. If this wasn't the current situation, I would've grabbed Shana or Robert instead of Peter. Please....let us get through this...please....please....please....

Darkness swarmed over the shelter as the candles were blown. We all breathed heavily in exploding noises. I can't even hear my own breathing, which frightens me even more. Was I already dead? Was everyone else dead too? Questions buzz through my mind. If I didn't even realise if I couldn't think, I really would be dead. Long seconds past. I hate days like this. Even though most of us hear had gone through about four bombs, each time felt like the first. I hate fear. I hate how I was so weak compared to others. It was hard to believe that everything was ending so fast.

Soon the huge puff of dust and debree began to fade. I can feel the dust particles dropping all over me. I sneeze and a few others coughed out the sand from their lungs. Peter released me and sauntered out into the blowing atmosphere, stepping over the many people gathered inm the shelter. I slowly follow, I can feel the shock and fear already growing in my mind. I can just see the rotted and burnt bodies everywhere. Peter stepped outside, his blonde hair was tousled by the rushing wind of dirty air. His azure softened and almost seemed to shed their own invisible tears, but he kept himself together for all the others who began to exit and stare at the desolate scenery. I stare at it with him. A lump gathers in my throat. "Can this end?" I remark. "It could...but I don't think it can now." Peter answered. "ALISON!!! PETER!!! ITS THEM!! THEY'VE COME BACK!!!" Robert bellowed out to us. "WE NEED TO GET THE WEAPONS! NOW!" I turn to the horizion and see the worst that could happen today. Remember how I said that now-a-days we have robots, well...these robots are a lot like those Terminator robots. Which sucks for us because we have barely any fighting experience and good weapons. I run back down the the shelter and gather my sniper rifle. I rush back outside and prone down to the ground like a military fighter I saw in the movie. Peeking down the scope, I stare at the robots. I ready for a good shot. These robots have no human outlook, so its a lot easier to depict them from the world. I looked at the breast plate on the leader. Asia. "We have Asia...and..." and peek around for more. "South America and Europe!" "All right." Peter nodded quickly. "All right! You heard her! Get your weapons now! GO! GO!" he shouted menacingly. "And remember, lock up the childern and elderly in the shelter. Protect them with your lives!" he screeched, running down to the shelter to grab his weapon before the shut the doors. Everyone on my batalion proned down with me, looking through the scopes. Peter controlled the other weapons like machine guns and pistols. Robert and Shana were with me. "All right! Before you fire, find your target! Don't shoot until your absolutely sure you have a enemy." I shout to my team. In my team, we had 4 snipers, counting myself. Peter had 9. The other 7 were childern, wounded, or elderly citizens. "When I say fire...fire at your target." I stared down the scope, capturing the lead machine. In total, their were 9 of them, and 13 of us. The odds didn't look for us. "FIRE!!!" I screech and pull the trigger to my rifle. I hit mine. I pull the glock. I fire again. The machine hasn't even fallen or stumbled. I grit my teeth. Everyone else is firing. Peter is waiting. "All right...don't fire until they get closer!" he raised his hand up, as if ready to start a race. "Steady....steady...wait for it....okay..." a more seconds passed. "Get your target...." another few seconds. "HURRY UP!!" I screech. "NOW!!!" Peter yelled, throwing down his arm and automatically going for his weapon. Soon, it was like a exploding rush of fireworks on our side. One robot in the back fell in pieces, though it probably wouldn't have fallen apart if we all hadn't shot at it at the same moment. It was one of the weaker manufactered ones, so we were quite lucky that time. 1 down, 7 to go.

I keep on firing. I'm pulling the trigger continuesly, just trying to hit my targets. I halt. I see something hovering above us and I glance upward instinct. I don't think the others notice. I scream and pull my sidearm from my pouch, the raise the gun upward. A human, though nothing like any other human, was zooming at me from above. Others were following behind, their mouths wide open and ready for the kill. These were most likely hybrids. These were all humans, grabbed by prisons or from their own country and injected with mindless animal DNA. None had a mind and were practically brain washed clean, only with one thing. Kill the enemy. My bullet struck one in the head and it toppled on top of me, its jaws still open and its eyes wide with craze. I scream again, I hate having dead bodies on me. Peter turned to me and looked upward. "WATCH OUT!! WE HAVE HYBRIDS!!" he shouted, raising his machine gun and firing. Soon, most of the attention was now to the hybrids. We had alreadly forgotten of the other enemy. A hybrid hopped onto one of the men and chomped into their skin. Soon, others began to follow behind, feeding like rabid animals. "Llyod!" I yell as they feast on him. His screaming blasts into my ears and I take a step back. "NO!!" raising my gun, I fire, and fire. The others are firing as well, killing the hybrids with quick speed and with a single bullet to the head. I look to Peter, who is fighting like crazy. One hopped onto him and he stumbled backward, but pressed the gun into the hybrid's mouth, and then firing. Shana is cutting them into pieces with her knives, stabbing through their chests and kicking at weak spots. Hand to hand and knives were her specialty. She had never been good with a gun. I suddenly hear a voice call my name. "ALISON!!!" I turn and see Robert, guarding the shelter door as four hybrids crowd around him. He has his gun raised but I can tell from his desperation he is probably out.
