"Leave?" Al said to me, trying to compose him self. it wasn't working very well. "What do you mean leave?" "Well you don't expect me to stay here forever do you?" I said almost laughing. Then I saw the look of seriousness on his face. "Wait, do you?" "I don't think you understand what is at stake here, your highness." he said, his ever present smile gone. "Our whole kingdom depends on making you a wise and noble queen in less then six months." "And what exactly," I said getting a little frustrated now, "makes you think that I can handle that kind of pressure? The biggest dessision i've ever made in my life was choosing to wear my blue shirt or my purple one." Obviously this amused him somehow, because his familiar smile returned agian. I guess he didn't realize how serious i was really being. "With the proper training, anything is possible?" "You say that now, Al. You say that now." He looked at me confused for a second and then raised one of his eyebrows. "Al?" "Well, yah, Aldebaran seemed a mouthful to say every time so i just gave you a nickname." I said shrugging my shoulders. He seemed to look of in the distant his eyes looking all hazy. "A nickname? Why, I've never had a nickname before!" I started to laugh. what kind of person is so happy about a nickname? I looked over at Will and he was smiling as well. He caught my eyes and he tryed to stop smiling, but it was to late. I knew there was a real person some where under that tough image.

After we ate, Al thought it might be good to go around the city i was soon to be ruling over. imagine that. We went out into the day, and i blinked back the bright sun in my eyes. Truly the city was amazing. From the front terrace of the castle, you could get a good look at the whole city. A vast river ran through the many green trees and grassy banks. The city lay north of the palace, and glittered in it's spendid glory. I could see families on the grassy hills enjoying the warm day. To the west of the palace, the river was widened to create a large lake with several small islands amidst the blue water. "It's amazing." i said, taking in every sight, sound, and smell. "Truly it is. Much better then that retched Earth place you come from. No offense." he siad looking at me. I shrugged my shoulders. I couldn't exactly disagree with him. i could never imagine finding a place this beautiful on earth. I moved closer to the edge of the balcani and stared at the waters. Will still followed me, staying the regular 5 ft behind me. "That is the river Elle. It runs through out much of the planet, and is very sacred hear. It brings life to us." "When will i be able to go out and meet the people?" I asked in curriosity. "Not for a while I fear, my lady," Al said to me, "there is so much for you to learn about Tauri, and despite the cities safe apperance, there are still those who wish to harm you. And if you are lost, my dear, we are all lost."

"Everyday, my lady," Al explained, "you will need to be tutored on several aspects of our society here on Tauri, so that you might fully understand and eventually rule Tauri. You will need to learn the culture, history, places, royal lineage, and how to act as a queen. You will need to gt to know the people. Love them, and let them learn to love you. You have to be able to please the people, and yet be strong enough to do what you believe is right for them. It will not be an easy task, espcially for one who should have 16 years to train for this instead of 6 months. However, I have faith in you, and believe, with dilligance, that you'll be just fine." "I'll do my best, Al." i said, fealing energized by his emotional speach. "Good! Now let's get started.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
5 hours later and any energy that had come from Al to me, was long gone. I was completly tired, and I hadn't even been moving a muscle. I had just started to learn about the history of Tauri, dating back 100,000 years ago, when the planet was first discovered by Sir Ean and his wife Maia, who was to become the first queen of the planet. I had also learned the basic layout of the city, and learned of several of the surrounding cities. Edict as a queen was going to begin tommorrow. I knew this would be even worse, knowing how clumbsy i truly was. Will escorted me to my room, which I was thankful for seeing as how i still didn't know my way around this place. "I don't see how you can not get lost around here!" I said as i followed him. "It gets easier with time." I nodded my head. "So how long have you worked here?" i asked him. "I lived here my whole life, and i've been training to be a guard since i was a young boy." "Where do you stay? In the palace, i mean?" "Have you always asked this many questions?" I blushed and looked down. "Sorry." I said, embarrased. and what was worse, i knew he was right. If I wasn't be clumbsy, i was being nosy. "Don't be sorry. It's not a likely traight of royalty." I was trying to decide if that was an incult or not when we reached my room. I walked inside and he stood at the door. "I'll be right next door, if you need anything." and before i could say a word he was closing the door. As I lay down in bed I couldn't help but think what a strange boy he was.
I woke up the next morning to the sound of a soft knocking, and the chirping voice of a servant. She had curly brown hair kept in a loose bun on her head and was wearing what looked like a servants dress. She came in smiling, and held a tray that smelled divine. She gave me my food and bed, which i had never had before, and suddenly i really felt like royalty. "After you eat, miss," said the chirpy lady, "you should go ahaid and get dressed. Your lessons will be starting soon. Here's a dress for you to wear." she said lying the dress on one of the chairs in my room. "If you need anything at all, dear, just call for Emily." she said with a smile and a wink. "Thank you." I said and smiled back. She seemed like a very nice lady. After i ate, i tried with much difficulty to put on my dress. i just couldn't figure out the lacing. After about ten minetes of trying, i decided i needed the assistance of Emily. After she was here, it took little time at all to get ready, and when i was finally done there was a knock at the door. Perfect timing.
I opened the door, and there was Al, smiling at me as usual. A few feet away was his shadow, Will, whom I was beginning to get used to. "Good morning princess. I trust you were well rested?" Al was a prime example of a polite host. "Yes, I slept great." I said trying to be the prime example of a polite guest. Even if i knew that i really wasn't a guest. it felt weird thinking that i would be a ruler here one day. "The queen is having a good morning as well today," stated Al, "and she would love to see you." This suprised me. I thought i'd have more time before i was to meet my new mother. I really had know idea what to say what-so-ever. 'Hi, i'm the daughter that you lost some where in space?' meeting her would be more than a little akward. but there was a questing i was dying to ask her, however.
"Okay," I said, mentally preparing myself, "I suppose now's as good of a time as ever to meet her." we took several twists and turns along the way, and i new that there was no way for me to find my way back to the sanctuary of my room. there was no turning back now. of course, there was no turning back since i walked into that swirling blue portal. I had to wonder, if it was all going to be worth it in the end. sure i was a princess now, every little girl's dream, but at what cost? Loosing everything that i had come to love were i had used to live? what about justin, and kait? would i ever see them agian? what about my parents? i missed them all so much. We turned one last corner and Al walked up to one of the many doors along the hallway. it looked like any other door, but i knew that my mother was waiting inside. Al gently nudged me in the direction of the door. "Aren't you going in too?" i asked worredly. "This is between you and your mother." he siad. "It's not my place to be there. it's your's." "but what will i say to her?" i said in an almost sqeaky voice that i hardly recognized as my own. Al smiled at me, and this somehow reasured me. "I imagine you'll find something to ask." he said in a voice that said he knew that i had questions. With a deep breath, I turned the door knob and walked across the threshold of the unknown once again. Somehow i found this to be more unnerving than the electric blue tunnel i had already entered.
I walked into a very fascinating room. There was a whole wall of book shelves, filled to the brim with books and other nik-naks. on another wall their was what appeared to be a large map of the planet. Close to the map, there was a desk with various charts and papers, and even an ink pot and quil. Sitting on the large bed lavished in silk sheets and pillows, was a friendly looking old lady. she had long curly hair and a soft smile, and her eyes seemed happy, but very tired. She wore a very queenly dress, though the effect of it's prowes was slightly lost by the fact that she was proped up against the bed. I knew she had to be my mother, but the idea seemed strange to me still. "Come sit here, dear." she said kindly, gestering to a chair next to the bed. I walked over silently and sat down. I really didn't know what to say. She sat in silence for a few moments, studing my face. "Your face may be mine," she said, "but you have the sharp green eyes of your father." "My father?" I said in a voice that seemed barly a squeak. "Yes," she said smiling. "He was a fine man, and an even better ruler." she said, and you could practically see them memory pass before her eyes. "I see so much of him in you." "Al said I look exactly like you when you were my age." I said, trying to talk about something, anything. "Oh he did, did he?" she said really smiling now. "I can't believe old Aldebaron can even remember that far back." And just like that we were talking.
