A little girl stumbled through the woods, not knowing which way to go. She tripped on a root, falling down. Her make-shift cruch fell a few feet away from her, and she barely held back a cry of pain. 'If I yelled, the wolves would come. I've got to keep quiet.' The girl thought. She was 12, and wearing a brown dress. It was the type of dress girl's back in the old days wore when they worked. She had on brown leather shoes, the type Indian girls wore. She had a broken leg, and was wandering the woods. She had left her house to look for adventure in the woods, and when she turned to go back home, she had tripped and hit her leg hard on a rock. It was broken, but she had managed to get a stick that could work like a cruch. She was trying to get back home, but she knew she was lost. She knew if any animal, a fox, a wolf, a bear, it didn't matter, knew she was there, sh'ed be easy prey. Maybe a vampire would stumble over her. Or a werewolf. Whatever did find her could do whatever they liked with her, because she was utterly lost. She sat up, and leaned against the nearest tree. She sighed, and waited for whatever creature would find her first.

A dark figure stared from the trees at the girl as she sat against the tree. It opened its mouth the glow of the moon reflecting of the two long pointed canine teeth.

The girl, Opal, stifled a scream. So, the first one to find her was a werewolf. 'What will this werewolf do to me? Eat me? Take me to it's den? Threaten me and then eat me? Swallow me alive? Cook me and then eat me? Not kill me and leave me to burn while I'm cooking and then eat me, still alive? If he chooses that last one I might be able to convince him to let me live while I'm over the fire.' She didn't think about the fact he'd have mercy, but she did hope he'd choose the last one, so she'd be able to try to talk him out of it.

Opal shrank back, scared. She began to tremble, hoping he was a rare, but nice, werewolf. But when he growled, she knew she was doomed. She grabbed hte nearest stick and pointed it at the werewolf.
"Stay back!" She yelled, her voice breaking and her knowing that a stick and words would not make the werewolf let her go. But she tried anyway.
