Kilay, a young but powerful vampiress, sat atop her castle. She was sitting on top of the highest tower, and could see all the land below. Her castle was red and black, more black, but she got visitors often. That was because of a very large village nearby, and the children wander and are forced to come inside, otherwise the giant wolves would eat them. They are forced to go to her castle, and then Kilay has her dinner. If there were three, she usually let the youngest one back to the village to tell the story, and drinks one dry, and turns the last into a vampire. She has dozens of vampire apprentices and vampire masters in her castle, from the ones she turned. Sometimes she just takes humans from the village directly and turn them into slaves. Usually it's te adult females, as they cannot fight wonderfullly, and are put into slavery. Hey, vampire's need to drink. They are not allowed to drink the humans dry, meaning they need to feed on two so that neither dies. The apprentices and human slaves are put to work, and sometimes friendships are made. Kilala loves for them to have friendships, because she has fun watching them and almost is jealous. No human slave would ever be the friend of the Midnight leader. Kilala was the leader of Midnight, a strong group of vampire's who take humans as slaves and trade them with more exotic humans. Occasionally, werewolves are taken as slaves by accident. They could be sold for a huge profit.
Right now, Kilala was watching for any children, and contemplating getting a new slave from the village. The decision was made for her as she saw wolves chasing a group of five children. There were three girls and two boys. Kilala decided none of them would return or drank dry. The boys would be slaves, and the girls turned. Maybe two girls turned, and the other girl a slave as well. Kilala flew down, and landed between the wolves and the children.
The children saw her, and yelled, "Help us!" Kilala smiled and nodded. She took out her sword, and killed one of the three giant wolves. The other two ran off, knowing what she was. The children hadn't figured it out yet.
"Thank you, milady! Without you, we would be dead." The oldest girl, about 18, already a women, thanked Kilala.
"I wouldn't be thanking me if I were you. I am the leader of Midnight." Kilala smiled Devishly and revealed her fangs. They glinted in the sun.
"What do you mean? Sissy, why does she have long teeth?" The youngest girl, about 4, clutched the skirts of the women, and the women hugged her close.
"Because, she's a vampire." The women spat the words, and Kilala laughed evilly.
One of the boys gasped, "Wow! A real vampire!" That one was about 7, and the other boy seemed to be married to the women, as they held hands.
"Now, which should I choose? By the way, three are going to be turned into vampire apprentices, and the other two are going to be my personal slaves." Kilala laughed when the women replied.
"You'll never take Fira!" The women hugged the little girl close.
Another girl, about 12, stood defiantly up to Kilala, chest puffed out, and said, "You'll have to fight me to get to her!"
Kilala laughed again, and bent down to be eye level with her, and whispered, "You have no idea what you're doing."
Kilala grabbed the 12-year old in one of her hands, and held her over her head. Kilala's powers made it so the girl fell asleep, and then Kilala dropped her on the ground. Vines covered the girl, making escape impossible.
"Who's next? If you run, your fate will be worse." Kilala said, and she appeared behind the man.
"How about you?" She whispered in his ear, and pushed him with great force on the ground. Before he could get up, the vines covered him.
"No! Deidra!" The man cried out, but then the vines covered his mouth. He fell asleep, and the women gasped.
"No! Just let my darling Fira go!" The women, Deidra, held the 4-year old in her arms, holding her tight.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I can't do that. But you will enjoy sucking your daughters blood when I'm done with you." Kilala dissapeared and reappeared behind Jegura, and bit her neck. She was turning Deidra into a vampire, and she let the two captives in vines awake for a moment to see it. The small girl, Fira, started crying.
Deidra's eyes turned white for a moment, and then black. She turned to Kilala, and Kilala said, "You must drink, Jegura. Your name is Jegura. Here is your meal. Do not drink to much, for this girl is to be a slave." Jegura looked at her child, and picked her up.
"Mommy?" Fira asked happily, but then Jegura bit her on the neck, and Fira began to get pale.
After a few seconds, Kilala took Fira away from Jegura, saying, "That is enough." Jegura licked her lips, and looked at her husband. He looked close to tears.
"Hello, Sinoi." Jegura licked her lips again, but Kilala put her hand on Jegura's shoulder.
"You cannot drink from him. There are others in the castle." Then Jegura dissapeared with a flick of a wrist from Kilala, and she turned to the boy, who was shivering.
"Not me too?" He whispered, and gasped as Kilala grabbed him.
"Yes, you too." Kilala whispered in his ear, and turned him as well. Kilala made the vines on Sinoi's neck off, and led the boy over to him. The boy knelt and drank from his father, and his father was crying steadily now.
"Thank you, father. Your blood is very good." The boy said when Kilala brought him away form the pale-but-still-alive man. Both he and Fira had fainted. With a flick of Kilala's wrist, the boy also was gone.
"What'd you do to Jake?" The 12-year old yelled, and Kilala turned to her.
"I turned Palanthar into a vampire, and Jegura too." The girl looked around, and gasped.
"You turned my brother and mother into vampire's?" She whisered, and then accused, "Why didn't you turn me?! Jake didn't deserve that! I'm his older sister! I need to protect Jake! You can't do that! Nooooo!!!" She yelled, struggling violently against her bonds, but to no anvil.
"Unfortunatly for you, you will be my slave. Your sister and father will be slaves as well, but I will sell the girl to another country, and I will get a new girl in place of her. Your father you may see around, but most likely not. He has wonderful tasting blood, so he will be a blood-doner. Whenever a vampire needs a drink, they will drink form your father. Maybe I shall put him into working, but most likely not. You, however, will be m working slave." Kilala informed her, and Fira dissapeared, and so did Sinoi.
Kilala laughed at the girls tears, and asked, "What is your name?"
The girl replied through her tears, with clenched teeth, "Liana. My name is Liana."
Kilala whispered into Liana's ear, "It would be wise to try to be my friend. The other vampire's will be angry for me taking you as my slave. You have wonderful tasting blood, and we usually make humans like you and your father blood-doners. I am saving you from a horrible fate. I do not want to hurt you, Liana. I want to be your friend. If I didn't turn your mother and brother, anther vampire would. And I am the strongest vampire here, so they will be powerful. Your sister, well, I don't have any choice in the matter. She is to beautiful to be a slave, yet her blood isn't sweet enough. She would be sold or traded no matter what I do. Your father, well, his blood is to sweet to be anythign but a doner. I shouldn't even be trying to save you, but I will try. Please, I want you to understand. I cannot do anything for your family. I will try to save your little sister, but I will probably fail. I am sorry." Kilala decided something when she saw Liana.
She wanted to have a human friend, and she might just yet gain this girl's trust.
"So my brother and mother will be happy? What about my dad! He'll be miserable! Let him go!" Liana said, and she continued to cry. The vines let go of Liana, and Kilala pulled Liana into a hug.
"It's okay. I'm sorry Liana, but the vampire's in my castle saw your fammily the moment the wolves began chasing you. If I didn't come, another less-nice one would. Please understand. I am your sister's only hope. It's too late for your father, but it isn't too late for Fira." Liana almost smiled and hugged Kilala back.
"Please try." Liana asked, and Kilala teleported them to her room, still hugging.
"Liana, I have to show you around. And you have to know this. Any vampire besides me you meet, you must call them Milady or Milord. Never look them in the face unless they say to. Always obey them, and never, never tell them you won't do it. If you don't do what they ask, they will turn you into a blood-doner like your dad. If you behave well, I can keep you from harm's way. Now, Opal will show you everything." A girl walked out of the shadows, she was about 15, and beckoned to Liana to follow. She looked at Kilala in the eyes, and smiled.
"So now I have a partner, right?" Opal asked, and Liana realized that Opal must feel very open to Kilala. If Opal looks at Kilala right in the eyes, and doesn't say Milady, does that mean Liana doesn't have to either? 'Better to play it safe and just say it,' Liana thought.
"Excuse me, Milady. Opal, where is the bathroom?" Liana didn't look Kilala in the eyes when she spoke to her, and looked where Opal was pointing. She ran in there, and Kilala sighed.
"Yes, Opal. She is going to be your partner. Could you explain all you know about me and about Midnight to Liana? Don't forget to tell to never say a word about it. Neihter you nor Liana is supposed to know about it." Kilala instructed, and hugged Opal goodbye.
"I have to go try to save Liana's litte sister." Kilala said, and disappeared.
Kilala reappeared when another vampire appeared, and the other vampire said, "They wll trade a women with long black hair and fine blood for the beautiful girl."
Kilala interupted, and said, "I will take the girl. I need another slave. Besides, I am the one who cuaght her, and I have a rightful claim to her."
"But you know the rules, Kilala. A beautiful girl must be traded or sold. If she is your slave, she won't be beautiful anymore." Another vamprie argued.
"Maybe, but I have claim. No rules are higher than claim." Kilala said, and Fira appeared in Kilala's arms.
"The girl is mine." Kilala siad plainly, and the two dissappeared.
"Can't anyone defeat her and take over?!" A vampire yelled out, angered.
"No. She is twice as powerful as most of us, and the next strongest vampire besides her is her best friend. They have too strong a bond for us to brake. Believe us, we've tried. But they just trust each other to much! Nothing works! Ad the third most powerful is only half as powerful as Kilala's best friend! Kilala is the strongest vampire in the world. There is nothing we can do." A wise vampire said, and sighed.
"Just somebody beat her to them next time! If someone else has claim, she can't do anything!" And everyone agreed to this last statement. If only that would work. Kilala always knows about people on the grounds faster than anyone else.
When Kilala reappeared, it was not in her room, like she intended. It was in her apprentice's room, Yuior. He had been a human just 20 years before that, as an 18-year old human. He was veyr young, but he showed a lot of potential. Kilala was only curious about how he managed to change her destination of teleportation. He shouldn't be able to do that; he hasn't near enough power. Does he?
"I'm sorry, Kilala, but I have a better deal with my new teacher than with you. She made it very clear I was to not let you have anymore slaves. I'm sorry, but that other girl was the last one." Yuior said from the darkness, and then Fira dissapeared from Kilala's arms.
"You do not belong here anymore. Go." And then Kilala, still confused, dissapeared.
"Now the bait has been set, and the game can begin." The figure, who was immitating Yuior but not really him, cackled. He was Veareiclasis, also known as Vearei, from Darkness, another vampire 'city' like Midnight was. Midnight didn't know about Darkness, but Darkness knew all about Midnight. The leader, Vearei, planned to destory it's leader and merge Darkness and Midnight together to be the most powerful vampire 'city' in the world. It would still be called Darkness, though.
