((I can't write stories very well, so I'm just turning this into an rp. Someone can post as the guide, who I want to get to be her friend, the dragontalker, the evil dragon who sends an evil minion shapeshifter after Lela, and anyone else you can think of. When we get there, someone else can play the good dragon. I'll play the dad, though. Jessica, want to be the evil shapeshifter minion sent after Lela? He kinda've reminds me of Teraj. Well, this man is basically the same.))
A young women was on the cross, her hands tied as well as her legs. Her head was hung down in defeat.
"Nion... where are you?... I can't find you, Nion... where are you?....." She whispered, trying to see what she did to deserve this pain.
"You mean this 'Nion'? He was a bad waste. Such a handsome lad. Ah, he was evil as you are, so he is better dead." A red-bearded man said, gesturing for some men to put something on a large pile of sticks underneath Lela, the women's, cross. The something was Nion's body.
"NOOOOO!!!!!" Lela yelled, finally realizing she as finally alone in this world. His pale dead face looked up at her, begging. He hadn't been begging for him when he died. He had been begging for Lela. He was sad, because he knew his love would face more pain than he would. And also because he wouldn't be there to hold her when she needed him, and he knew it.
"WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS?!?! WHY?!?!?!!?!?!" She yelled at the top of her lungs, "WHY!!!!!!!" She was yellign to the dark, looming storm clouds, as if suspecting God would answer her.
"WHY DID YOU TAKE HIM, GOD?!?! WHY NOT ME!!!! WHY NOT MEEEEE!!!!!!!" She yelled until her voice was almost gone, beggind for god to bring him back.
Finally, her voice was just a whsiper, "Please God... I need him... I need him.... please, god. Help me... help..."
And hten, someone in the crowd yelled, "Burn her already! Make her feel hte pain she gave those she killed! Do it already! We came here to see that devil of a shapeshifter die! Do it! Do it! Do it!" He chanted, and the rest of the crowd chanted as well.
"Burn the shapeshifter!" They all yelled, and a large brutish man came up with a flaming torch in his hand. Lela thought, 'But it was either I kil them or they kill me. I didn't even start it. I was protecting myself. It isn't my fault all of you chased me and tried to kill me. It isn't my fault.' But the man, despite her thoiught plea he couldn't hear, was about to throw the torch into the stick pile when a gigantic phoenix dived from the sky, it's flaming wings out to the full length. They were at least 24 feet in diameter, but Lela didn't notice the phoenix. The torch man did, though, and tire dto throw the torch on the stick pile to burn Lela's wooden cross that she was on, but the phoenix was too quick. It snatched Nion's body in one talon, and Lela's cross in the other. It's talons were also big, and very strong.
'Thank you. Lela thought gratefully to the phoenix.
'You're welcome, Sister.' The phoenix thought back. Phoenix's called all shapeshifters brothers or sisters because they could turn into phoenix's just like them, and any phoenix calls other phoenix's brother or sister.
'And thank you too, God.' Lela thoguht to herself, so the phoenix wouldn't hear.
'I'm Lela. What's your name?' She asked, and the phoenix replied, 'Dorvin. I'm Dorvin.'
'They won't give up, you know. They'll keep coming after me.' Lela informed the phoenix, 'This isn't the end.'
The phoenix nodded, and replied, 'I know. But you can defeat them. As long as they are chasing you, they won't hurt anyone else. Just stay hidden, and they wo't harm anyone. Unless someone gets in their way, like your lover.'
Lela stiffened at the thought of Nion, and looked to her right to see Nion hanging limp, and asked softly, 'Why did you bring him? I can't bring him back to life.'
Dorvin seemed surpirsed, because he responed quickly, 'Don't you want to bury him? Would you really have had me leave his body there with those evil villagers?'
'No,' Lela admitted, and realized Dorvin was landing.
'Hold on. I'll get you untied in no time.' Dorvin said, and began clawing at the chains that held her down. He used flame, and soon she was loose. Luckily, the flame didn't hurt her, it just melted the chains.
She went over to Nion's body, and leaned against him on the ground one last time, and kissed him. She recoiled at the coldness of his lips, but knew it would be her last moment with Nion forever. "I love you, Nion. I'll always love you." She whispered to him, and got up. She morphed into a pheonix as large as Dorvin, and used her talons to make a hole big enough for Dorvin. She morphed bakc and kisse dhim one last time, this time not recoiling at the coldness. She gently lifted his body up and put it in the hole, and covered it with the dirt with her bare hands.
She gathered rocks and also put those on his grave, to make sure no scavengers got in it. She searched for a long time, Dorvin watching her as she went back and forht, searching endlessly. Finally, she found what she wanted. She picked up the beautiful Lily flower, and put it in the middle of the grave. She could still remember when he said the Lily was his favorite flower.
"It reminds me of your beautiful, sparkling eyes. The bright blue shining of your eyes reflects in the lily, it's own whitness shinging likea thousand stars, just like your eyes." He said, and then kissed her.
Lela came back to the real world, the memory still vivid in her mind. The day after that was his death.
"I will avenge you, Nion. They will pay dearly. They will." Lela said, and broke down crying, the lily flower shining it's bright white light on her, as if trying to cheer her up.
Dorvin told her, 'I remember meeting this Nion once. He was a kind man, always putting others well-being before his own. He was the nicest pure-blood human I've ever met.' Lela nodded, agreeing with him. Nion was the only nice human she had ever met. He never deserved anything that had come about him because of her. If he hadn't gotten close to her, if he'd stayed away, he'd still be alive. 'But then I'd never had known him,' Lela thought, and she was surprised when Dorvin answered, 'Don't dwell on the past, Lela. Look to the furture. Don't forget, you're still pregnant with Nion's baby.' And Lela gasped. She hadn't known phoenix's could tell so much.
'How did you know?' Lela asked, curious.
'You're belly. It's a few centimeters bigger than before, when I first met you. I've seen you before, and I can tell your stomach is bigger. But you exercise far to much for it to be fat. If it was, you're legs would be bigger to. But they aren't. To my eyes, your stomach has gotten much bigger. I notice everything.' Dorvin answered, and Lela sighed. She had feared phoenix's could read her mind, and that would not have been good. She must've accidentily said it so he could hear.
'Now, Lela. It's time to start your quest.' Dorvin said, preparing to spread his wings and fly.
'What quest?' Lela asked, and Dorvin seemed surprised again.
'No one told you? Well, I supposed no one could tell you because they themselves didn't know, but anyway, now I'll tell you. Those villagers onyl get away with what they do because they have a guardian. This guardian is the strongest evil dragon on Earth. He's using the villagers to spread his evil work wihtout showing himself. If everyone knew about him, word might reach the most powerful good dragon on the planet. The strongest good dragon is stronger than the evil one. But unfortunatly for us, the good dragon is hiding. Not from anyone in particular, he just wants to be alone. But the evil dragon knows the good dragon would come out of hiding to kill him, because the good dragon thinks the evil one is dead. Your quest is to find the good dragon so he could destroy the evil one. I am the only one strong enough to resist the pwoer of the evil dragon, but I am still not near strong enough to defeat him, just strong enough to resist his spells for a short period of time. He put barriers up aroudn the village so it couldn't be attacked, but I was strong enough to brake through the barrier and save you. The evil dragon hates to be defeated, and will chase after you. You are the only one to find the good dragon, becuase you're the daughter of Hurisami. Hurisami is the strongest shapeshifter the world has ever seen, and he gives the good draong advice. He is so wise, he knows more than the good dragon himself. He went into hiding with the good dragon, and they wish to be left alone. Many have been sent to find the duo, but they came back half-crazy. They can be healed, but it shows the two really don't want to be seen. They might see you, however. Your father cherishes family more than his own life, and he might let you see them without coming back crazy. You are our only chance.' Dorvin explained, settling back down as he told it.
Lela gaped, and managecd to say, "My father gives adive to the greatest dragon on the planet? He's wiser than the great dragon himself? How do I start my quest?" She asked, wondeirng what she'd have to do.
'You have to find an old women called the Dragontalker. If anyone knew where to find the great dragon and your father, it would be her. She will try to get you off your path by trickery you havne't even thought possible, but you have to stick with it. SHe will give you riddles, you have to solve them. She wil give you three riddles. One when you get there, one after she's unsuccessfully tried to trick you, and one just before you go to find your father and the great dragon. If you answer them all correctly, she might even give you extra help. Unfortunatly, I only knwot he area she's in, not her exact position. You'll have to have help to find her.' Dorvin said, already spreading his wings. Lela morphed into a phoenix, and they took off.
'That's okay. I'll get a person who lives in the area to show me. Just lead me to it.' Lela said, knwoing that as soon as she found her father and the dragon, Nion would be avenged, and ,many lives would saved.
A young women was on the cross, her hands tied as well as her legs. Her head was hung down in defeat.
