After spending an hour running through all the bars looking for Jade, Landon was panicking. No one had seen her since last night when he had carried her home. There was one last place to look and that was her apartment. He still had the key from when Dillon and Jade lived there together and a lot of nights Landon spent the night on the living room couch. It was a quarter til four when Landon finally made it to her apartments. Looking up to her room on teh thrid floor he saw that the lights were off. Not that many people had lights on at this time of night. He ran up the stairs two at a time, trying to get up there as fast as possible. When he reached her room he fumbled with the key in the lock trying to get the door open. Feeling the tumblers align and the lock click open Landon pushed open the door to the silent home. Everything was dark and he fumbled through the living room making his way to Jade's room. Something felt different about the place. Pushing the door the her room open he was surprised at what met him. It was actually clean. There wasn't the faint tint of death that had been there just the past night. For Landon it was almost like stepping into a time capsule. He could not believe what he saw. Then looking over to the bed he saw Jade sound asleep a smile faintly on her lips. He sighed with relief. She was ok. Better than ok. She was alseep and it was obviously the sleep of the living not the sleep of the dead that he was so used to seeing from her. As soon as the panic faded from his body he realized just how exhausted he was. Closing the bedroom door behind him he collapsed on the couch joining Jade in peacful sleep.

Sunlight shone through the clear window pane and fell across Jade's face. Shying away from the bright light, Jade slowly came into wakefullness. Moving slightly she felt the teddy bear still held in her arms and she smiled remembering dreams of Dillon. After sliding out of bed, she made the bed and placed the teddy bear on her pillow. She walked into the bathroom to get ready for the day and was once again shocked at her appearnce. No shine in her hair and she was skin and bones. This was going to take work to fix and she knew it. It would be so easy to slide back into her old habits the minute she lost hope. Going through her closet, Jade deicided she needed new clothes as well. All of her were old, and new clothes could make anyone feel better. Pulling out a pair of jeans and a plain black T-shirt she sat them on the bathroom counter and got into the shower.

Stepping into the shower Jade let out a small yelp as the cool water hit her skin. She sighed as the water warmed, soaking her hair. She spread her hands out over her ribs, disgusted that she could count even all the spaces between them. She soaked in the shower, letting the warm water wake her up, and wash away the remenents of the life she was trying to leave behind. Despite the early hour, and despite her new found self, and despite the fact that she was determined to find her way out of this, Jade could still feel the desire to find the bottle. It was almost as if her body didn't know how to function without it. She herself desperately wanted to be free from that pull, but her body still craved the numbing alcohol. But it was morning, and a new day. Determined to get a grip on everything, Jade pulled on her too loose clothes, not daring to glance in the mirror again. The shirt hung loose on her shoulders, and she had to find a belt to keep the pants in the proper place on her hips. A new outfit or two was definitely in order. She opened the door to her bedroom and walked into the dim living room, darkened by the curtains pulled across the windows. Not a step into the room and Jade could tell that something was amiss. Someone was in there. She might not have worked in two years, but she had been the best at her job, just because she trusted her senses. And her senses now told her that she wasn't alone. She stilled her breath and looked around carefully scanning the room. Her eyes hadn't adjusted to the light and the shapes of the furniture was all she could make out. But a slight movement from the couch, told her where the intruder was. She moved silently towards the couch, her bare feet as quiet as a whisper on the thick carpet. She was almost standing on top of the man, because that's what it was on her couch, when quicker than lightening the man moved, and had sprung from the couch lunging at her. The solid mass hit her with a thud and instantly knocked her weakened body to the floor taking her breath with it. The man kept his weight on top of her, effectively pinning her to the floor. Jade gasped for breath and struggled against the weight on her, but she was in no shape to be fighting anything. "Get off!" she shrieked hoping that maybe a neighbor would hear. She cursed herself silently for letting herself get so far gone. "Jade?" The voice asked, and it was a voice that was strangely familar, she stilled beneath the weight, squinting in the dark to try and identify the man. "Landon?"
