Before Lena even realized it, the song was over and her and Larson were in the final pose. Her weight was fully rested on his arms and in a postion most people would call uncomfortable. After a few moments the crowd was still silent, there minds still entrapped in the music and the dance. Finally one person started clapping then that started the tidal wave of cheers. Lena and Larson stood up, both breathing harder the normal. They looked at each other and smiled. They both knew they had done a good job. Lena's eyes sparkled with delight as she heard the crowd cheering for her. It was exciting being able to perform in front of all the people. IT made Lena feel so alive. Seeing Nathanial approaching with Rositas Lena and Larson turned to them. Nathanial threw a pouch of gold to Larson who caught it in the air. "There is your winnings, I think it's obvious who won." Nathanial said turning to leave. "Wait," Lena called,"Thank for dancing with us." "If you ever want to dance again we're willing to." Larson added. "Well, if we're ever in the same area we'll look you up." He grasped Larson's hand and nodded at Lena, who nodded back. "It was a pleasure to meet the two of you."

With that Nathanial turned and walked off leaving Lena and Larson alone on the stage. The peolple from the audience were starting to make their way up to the stage to congragulate Lena and Larson. Lena smilled up at Larson nervously. This was the part she didn't like. Lena had problems when she was around too many people at once. She didn't usually have problems when she was around other dancers. That was just something she had come to get used to. She did better when she was around Larson. She didn't freeze up and run away. She always at least stayed beside Larson while he greeted and talked to everybody. Lena shook hands with a few women and started small talk with them avoiding most male attention.

Tyren waited back from the rest of the crowd, and watched the girl he now knew as Lena. He still had her necklace and he had full intentions of returning it to her. he was now positive it was hers. Her partner standing next to her had one on a chain around his own neck, while Lena's was clearly absent. He fingered the cool metal in his hands and sighed. His hopes dashed against rocks like, the waves crashing against the cliffs. Lena had a dancing partner. Most dancing partners were also lovers. It came from doing everthing together, and having to know what the other person's body could an couldn't do. There had to be a trust between those to people that could go beyond death itself. The intamicy needed between dance partners was immense. It almost made it easier if they were lovers. Between lovers you lose the akwardness.

Lena was surprised to see the man she had run into earlier standing at the end of the line. She blushed slightly and and averted her eyes. She wasn't scared like she had been but there was still that sense of uneasiness. Lena watched him through her eyelashes heart starting to beat faster. What was the chance of seeing the same guy twice in one morning. "Good day sir," Larson said as polite as ever as he held out his hand for Tyren to shake. "I'm Larson." When Larson spoke Tyren looked away from Lena and turned to her partner."I'm Tyren. That was a really good show, one of the best I've ever seen," he admitted. He had been truely amazed at the way the dance just seemed to come natrually to them. Even some of the best dancers at court couldn't make the dance feel so real like Lena and Larson had done. "Well we appreciate your support," Larson responded," but if you'll excuse us, we have somewhere to be." "Oh, I'll let you go," Tyren interjected," I just wanted to give this back." He reached a hand into his pocket and pulled the necklace out. Lena's hand imeadiatly flashed up to her neck, as she felt for her necklace that was in Tyren's hand. "Where did you find that?" she asked as she reached a hand out to grab it. She put the necklace in it's proper place around her neck, and watched Tyren carefully. "You must've dropped it when we ran into each other," Tyran explained then turned to go. "Wait," Lena said, then when Tyren turned back around she said, "I'm Lena and thank you." "It was nothing," Tyren said then walked away, it was high time he was home. He had put off his royal duties for too long that day. When he reached the top of the rise he turned and looked back to where Lena and Larson were already hurrying away for whatever it was they had to . He sighed into the wind and said quietly," Good-bye...Lena."

Tyren trudged slowly to the castle that was home and his royal duities. The one time he thought he had the perfect girl, and she already had the perfect guy. By the time Tyren got back to the castle it was already past noon. His father was probably going to be mad but he didn't care. He had enjoyed his morning of freedom, even if he had lost Lena. As he walked through the doors to the main hall Tyren was imediatly intercepted by the Royal Gaurd, that consisted of the five best fighters in the Kingdom. All had been hand picked for their skills and loyalty. His father had obviously been waiting for him. The gaurds escorted him to the King's Chamber and then all but one left. The one remaing was Aaron, the youngest captian in the Royal Gaurd and Tyren's best friend. "Hey man, where have you been?" Aaron asked Tyren leaning up against the wall. Tyren gave a smile to Aaron who had been his friend since they were little. They used to chase each other around the castle with toy wooden swords. Now and then they still beat each other up with swords but they weren't toys anymore. "Well I was trying to get away from my royal duties for just a little while," Tyren said. He wasn't going to tell Aaron about Lena. What was the use if nothing would ever come of it? Aaron laughed and nodded in understanding. He knew how much Tyren got tired of being a prince day after day. "Just a warning, your father is pretty mad. This was the day you were going to meet your Kingdom Tour group." Tyren looked at him with wide eyes," That was today? I could've sworn is was supposed to be tomorrow!" The Kingdom Tour was basically that, a tour of the Kingdom. For a full year the heir to the throne toured the Kingdom with a gruop of people. This could be a dancing troupe, or even a merchant caravan. It all depended on who was chossen. But as the heir saw the kingdom he was treated like another normal person. He got to see life like the non-royal people did. This why the ruler of the Kingdom knew his people and his Kingdom. It showed that the monarch was not above associateing with them. It also gave the heirs, who had been shelter pretty much their whole lives, expierence in the world away from the protection. They learned to fend for themselves and be to be depened on by others. It wa a good system. "No, that was today, and you were supposed to meet them at non." Aaron replied. Tyren cursed and put his hand on the door to his father's room,"It's already a hour past." Aaron nodded sypathetically and told him gravely,"Good luck, my friend. If I don't see you in a hour I'll bring the gaurd in." Aaron was just joking but he knew Tyren would be glad for the reprive before the storm. Tyren smiled at Aaron and replied,"If I die today, make sure they bury my remains and I'm not thrown in a ditch." Arron nodded and then turned to go saying over his shoulder,"May the Gods be with you, and you should'e slept with Serin while you had the chance." Tyren laughed at Aaron then pushed open the door, already dreading the meeting with his father.

Lena and Larson made it to The King's Stage with time to spare. Unlike the Park Stage wich was covered but still out doors, The King's Stage was inside and sheltered from the elements. Huge glass plates were in the ceiling and walls that could be covered with sheets to change the level of lighting or the color of the lighting. This was said to be the best stage in all the lands. Their were several tiers of seating places with chairs surrounding the stage. This was easily the lasgest stage and obviously the best quality. The wood flooring on the stage had been worn down by the countless number a footfalls that pressed down on it's surface daily. Dancers could go barefoot, which most perfered to do since it gave them a better feel of the beat, without worry of getting splinters. Deep, purple curtains were drawn across the stage now and their were several people talking in small groups on the ground right below the stage reserved for members of the dance troupes. Everyone standing around the stage were all part of the King's Troupe. Almost the entire troupe was present except for a few late straglers. Lena and Larson sat down in some chairs and started talking with other younger members of the troupe. It would not be long before everyone was there and the mid-winter festival preperations for the troup would begin.

An older man with rich clothes stood up on the stage and started clapping his hands to get everyone's attention. "Excuse me, excuse me," he was saying. Everyone stopped talking and Brett joined him on the stage off the the man's right. "Good day ladies and gentlemen. I am Tristain and I will be directign the play this year. This year is special, for this year it is Prince Tyren's coming of age. The King has requested that this performance be spectacular. After much thought I have decided to go with a classic. Two lovers bound by their families forbidden to love. The story line is common, but the movements will not be. They will be unique and only the best of the best will be able to master these." Tristain was gettign fired up, and his speech was having the desired effect on the gathered troupe. The air was filling with excitment. "This could very well eb the most difficult show some of you will ever perform in. We have two months to get thsi flawless. Jsut two months. Not long at all." He shook his had and took a deep breath. "WE begin today, try outs for roles will start as soon we have scripts going around. I need to find my lovers today. Everyone else we will find tomorrow." With that he stepped down of the stage and started conversing with Brett. Scrolls were being passed around that listed all teh characters. Lena and Larson got one and started looking over the roles. If they could, they would get a role together. Lookign down at the croll then lookign over at Lena, Larson said in a determined voice,"I think we can do it this year." "But Larson, that role is only filled by the best partners!" Lena protested. More tham anythign she would want the lead roles for them but she wasn;t sure. "Come on Lena," Larson began,"We are good. We always have major chatacters besdies the main ones." "Btu the others, the older people, they deserve the leading." "We've been here longer than Noel and Jurah, and they will get the role if we don;t try, you know. Besides you know it's what you want." "Well, yes...." "Then let's do it. If we don't get it, we don't get it." Lena smiled adn then said with a determination matching his,"We'll get it."

Brett came up behind the two and put a hand on each of their shoulder's. "I hope you two try for the leads this year," she said with a twinkle in her eyes. "We were planning on it Brett," Larson replied with a grin. "Ya think we stand a chance?" "I'd say there's a pretty good chance. The lead characters need to be young. Noel and Jurah are almost too old, and they are the next youngest. Besides, you two are the closet thing I have for children and I would love to see ya'll land this part together." "We'll try our best," Lena said with a nod and smile. Brett grinned at them both and then replied," What are ya'll doing for your tryout dance?" "We haven't really dissicussed it," Larson stated.

As usual Lena and Larson started their own process of thinking outloud together. It wasn't long until they were unaware of what was going on around them. "Romantic," Larson said imeadiatly eyes focused inward not really seeing what was around him. Lena with the same far off look added, " Romantic, but desperate, forbidden. Needs to have tension." "Style changes would make it dramatic, slow and flowing to upbeat and wild," Larson said expression not changing. Lena sanpped back into reality with a dance idea ready. "What if we do the one from the show last year? You remember the one where the two people who had known each other forever danced at the mask ball and fell in love when they didn't recognize each other. That one might work."

Larson's eyes slowly refocused back on Lena as he replied, "Yeah, I guess that would work. It's missing something though. It needs more spice." Putting her hands on her hips Lena sighed. Being as young as they were they didn't have many dance to choose from that they knew. "It's got to be spectacular," Lena said," We have a disadvantage with us not knowing many good dances to fit this theme. We just have to perform." Suddenly Larson's eyes lit up. A broad smile grew across his face. " I have an idea, here's what we have to do..."

Tyren snuck into the back of the King's Stage and sat down in the last row, hoping he wouldn't be noticed coming in late. The gypsy troupe he was being assigned to was already working. Two dancers on the stage were auditioning for Tristain, whom Tyren did know. Tristian had been the Prince's instructor in drama during his education. Tristian looked up and narrowed his eyes at Tyren and he sunk lower into his chair. As Tyren though back on it, Tristian had never liked him, and now he was with him for the next 2 months until the troupe left after the mid-winter festival. The King had not been happy with his son. And had it not been essential for Tyren to someday take the throne, he seriously doubted the existance of his head. There had been a lot of yelling, a lot of explaining, and a lot of groveling. The King had threatened to reassign Tyren's group to one that was located in the palace. His father knew Tyren was looking for a way to get away from the capital. He sighed and crossed his arms over his chest. This really hadn't been a good day. First the meeting with the girl, who had actually run from him. Then the lecture from his father, which Tyren would have gladly done without. All on top of him forgetting about, and then because of that being late for his Kingdom Tour Group. He had wanted to make a good impression on them but so much for that. He had changed clothes and now wore the crown of his station. It was more of a circlet, a silver band resting on his brow. The two dancers on stage were very good together, and as most partners, were lovers. That much was obvious in the way they kissed each other after the routine was done. It had been good but it didn't match the pair Tyren had seen earlier that day. "Thank you Noel and Jurah, very well done. Next time focus on the tesion, it was definitely lacking there. But overall a solid performance," Trisatian said his voice reverberating through the entire stage area without the aid of anything. The place was built to have the perfect acoustics. "Ok, my next pair, Larson and Lena, if I'm not mistaken."

Tyren groaned outloud when he saw Lena and Larson. He felt stupid that he had not recognized the troupe symbol. Which was the only one he really should have known. It wasn't enough that she was afraid of him, or that she had a lover, no he was going to have to spend a year with her. Watching her, learning from her, seeing her every move, and not being able to touch. He was the Prince, he was used to women and girls, married or not, begging for his attention. He had never found one worhty enough to keep, or to take to his bed. Just as they had earlier that day the two of them were seperated at the start. Unlike before though, both started dancing and it wasn't just Lena. The music was soft and light, and instantly reminded Tyren of the srping. Their movements were synchronized, and they moved together. Obviously the two had spent much time together in practice and otherwise. As the two spun and twisted around the stage they slowly got closer together. When fianlly they did meet up the music slowed, and changed themes, giving off one of passion and love. They twirled together around the floor, Lena held securely in Larson's arms. As once again the music changed Tyren realized they must be doing several different types of dances and not just one.

This time the music was darker, forbidden. As the two dancers broke apart as if pulled away by an outside force. He had to admit that Lena and Larson were good, poosibly the best pair her had seen together. They put feeling and emotions into it. It went on for a few more minutes, music changing and with it their dance style. It ended when Larson lifted her and then in one solid motion brought her down so that her head was closer to the floor and her feet were up by his head. Both of their center's of gravity were lowered and they held that for a few minutes before the last note faded away. Tyren applauded for them, and he wasn't the only one. He hadn't noticed while they were dancing but most of the troupe had stopped what they were doing to watch the pair. He did notice however the Noel and Jurah had not gotten and applause. Even Tristian put his hands together. Tyren knew then just how well they had done. Tristain rarely gave applause to anyoen but the best. "Very well done." Tristian said smiling and nodding in approval. Larson carefully lifter Lena back up and righted her on her feet. They both gleamed at each other. They both felt just how well their performance was. "And we have our star-crossed lovers," Tristian said giving them a nod. He would have to rewrite the choregraphy for them. They would be able to do much more than anyone else he had seen. Larson and Lena looked at each other and smiled. Larson picked her up in a bear hug and spun her around once. Both were laughing and smiling faces. Brett hustled herself onto the stage her arms held wide for the two who might as well have been her children. They both hugged her. "Oh, I'm so proud of you two," Brett said. Her pride was almost a tangible thing. That's when Tristian caught Tyren's eye and motioned him over. Tyren sighed and reluctantly got up from his seat and made his way down to the stage. No one really noticed him, everyone had gone back to business. The trio on the stage were conversing in excited tones. All three faces glowed with accomplishment. Tyren didn't see why they were so happy over landing one small part in a production. Tristian climbed up on the stage and walked up to Tristian who stood with his arms over his chest. "Your Highness," Tristian started with a slight bow sarcasm in his voice, "It is lovely of you to join us." Tyren tried to interject but Tristian held up his hands. "Aaron came by and informed me that you would be late. I hope this does not carry over to future expectations. Especially now that you are technically a member of this group." Tyren didn't try to make anymore excuses but just settled for nodding his head. That was better than he had expected from Tristian. With that Tristian clapped his hands and somehow managed to capture everyone's attention instantly. "Excuse me," he called his voice projecting through the hall once agian. "I'd like to have the honor to introduce His Highness, Prince Tyren." Everyone instantly bowed to the heir whom none had noticed until now. "I also have the honor that the King's Troupe, has been given the honor of hosting His Highness, for the Kingdom Tour. His Highness will be residing and particiapating with you all for the next year. We hope we have a safe year and that all events will go smoothly." With that Tristain was clearly done with his little speech and once again there was applause. Being choosen as the Kingdon Tour Group was a high honor. Just then Brett appeared at Tyren's side. And the firey, plump woman slightly intimidated Tyren although she was more than a head shorter than him. "Your Highness," she said and bowed. Tyren would have to make sure they all stopped doing that and calling him 'Your Highness'. "Brett Stone at your service," she said. "These are two of my dancers, Lena and Larson." Lena dipped into a curtsey and Larson bowed both of them moving in time with the other. Tyren thought he was going to be sick. Those two were just too perfect. "You'll eventually need to know everyone's names but for today, you're ok. Now, I knew ahead of time that you would be joining us, but no one else did. I've made arrangements for you to stay at my house, or if there is another member willing to put you up, you're more than welcome to go there..." Brett went on about where he was to be and what was expected of him. He listened to her with half attention, storing it all in his mind but not focusing entirely on her. Lena and Larson had moved off and were talking together. Tyren noticed that Lena kept shooting glances at him, and he wondered briefly if she recognized him. "Do you understand?" Brett finished. "Yes ma'am," Tyren said looking down to meet her eyes. "Good. Now, this is the first day of the mid-winter production so there isn't much left to do. We found our leads, Lena and Larson." Both of them looked up at their names then went back to talking. Brett still glowed with pride when she mentioned their name. "So, that's that. We start up tomorrow at eight, which will be giving the rest of the roles out. You don't have to stay with us tonight, or for the remainder of our stay here. That's just if you want to. You will be expected to be with for all group functions." "Of course," Tyren replied politely. He wasn't sure if he liked Brett or not. While not pushy, or bossy, she did have a very intimidating air about her. One that even his father would have a hard time matching. Maybe he could learn that from her. "Very well. You are dissmissed for the day. You may stay with us of do as you plese. Now I have business to attended to." At that Brett left without another word leaving Tyren on the stage with Lena and Larson.

"Larson," Lena asked quietly throwing a side long glance at the Prince. "Have we met him?" "No, we haven't met him, I would remember meeting the prince," Larson replied also watching Tyren who was standing by himself on center stage. "But I know what you're feeling. I feel like I've seen him somewhere, and recently." Both Lena and Larson were sensing that Tyren was familiar but neither of them were connecting him to that morning. Neither one even noticed that he had used his real name ealrier. This was Prince Tyren. Not the Tyren who they ran into on the streets. "You want to get our shopping down now, since we didn't get to earlier?" Larson asked Lena, thinking back to earlier when their plans had been disrupted by the challenge and Lena's minor breakdown. "That would be nice," Lena said absentmindly still stealing glances at the Prince. Something about him intrigued her. Not enough for her to get close to him, but enough to want to learn more about the Kingdom's heir from a distance. Larson sighed, he could tell what Lena was thinking about. Tyren. That was obvious how she kept sneaking looks at him. He wanted for Lena to get over all her past hurt. It hurt him to see her hurt after anytime any man touched her but himself. He didn't mind her always being aound him, but he wanted her to expierence life too. It was hard looking out for Lena, always playing the protective big brother. Then a thought hit him. Maybe Tyren could help. Maybe if Lena got used to him, and they were able to be friends, it would make it easier for her to move on. Have a life where Maddok didn't haunt her every move. Larson was convinced that if Lena found a man that would love her for who she was, and give her the worship she deserved, she would start to break free of the fear that handicapped her. "Hey, Tyren!" Larson called to the prince. As far as he was concerned Tyren was now part of the troupe and thus his equal. There would be no 'Your Highness' or 'Prince' from him. Everyong in a troupe was equal. Even Brett, who was just the unofficial leader, didn't have a title. "Want to come shopping with us?" Tyren looked around, almost as if he was surprised Larson was talking to him. He hesitantly came over to them. "Uhh... I guess. If you're inviting me." Tyren didn't know why he had gotten the invintation, but he was thankful Larson didn't adopt his formal title. Larson was pleased with his plan. He knew it would take time but he hoped it would work. For Lena's sake. Lena on the other hand was staring at him in utter shock, and Tyren still had that confused look upon his face. It looked like he had a lot of work cut out for him. Trying to take attention off himself he said, "I figured when can go to Lentel's store first. Then where ever else we want to hit. We're trying to get midwinter shopping done, because after this with production starting we won't have time to do it," he explained to Tyren.

Tyren nodded in understanding. He knew about not having enough time to get things done. "Sure, I wouldn't mind coming along," he said. Once again, he had a way to get away from his father. He really wasn't intersted in seeing him again today after the encounter they had earlier. His father was in a bad mood. "Alright it's all settled then," Larson said his eyes gleaming. "Lena and I have everything we need, so unless you need to go get someting we are all set." Tyren shook his head, he didn't need anything. He was surprised that Lena didn't add anything, but just let Larson talk for her. It seemed odd. The quiet girl who projected herself on stage didn't say a word off of it. At least to people she didn't know. She talked to Larson and Brett but even from the other dancers, there was relative distance. He didn't connect that it was mainly males that she stayed away from. He didn't notice it because she was always with Larson. Larson walked to the end of the stage and was followed closely by Lena, with Tyren slightly behind her. Larson jumped off the stage not bothering with the stairs. He held out his hand to Lena and she took his hand and jumped down being steadied by him. Tyren followed suite. He didn't move with quite the grace that the two dancers did, both seeming to flow over the ground. Tyren moved like a warrior, light on his feet but without the grace. They made their way out of the King's Stage and towards market street with relative silence. Lena and Larson weren't talking because Tyren was there, and Tyren didn't have anything to talk about with them. Making it to Lentel's they ducked inside. Lentel's was an all purpose shop with just about anything you could want. They weren't specialized, but they did have a little bit of everything. "Excuse me for a moment," Lena said and then disappeared into the store. Presumably to use the restroom. That's when Larson, without saying a word, grabbed Tyren's arm and pulled him into a corner of the store that was mostly secluded. In a low voice Larson said, "Look, I've seen how you were looking at her. And if you hurt her, I swear, royal or not you will regret. You don't know what she has been through, and I'm going to leave that up to her to tell you." When Tyren tried to interrupt, Larson raised his hand stopping him and continued but this time without the threat in his voice, but regret. "I know she's a mess, but I just want her to be happy. I think you can help. If you are up to the challenge, I want you to try to make friends with her. That's all I ask, is that you'll be her friend. If nothing more than just that. Lena needs a man she can trust besides me. I can only do so much for her. And now more than ever, it's harder for me to be with her all the time, to keep her safe, to make her happy. And I can't be there forever. So I'm asking for your help, for just this one thing." Tyren looked at Larson with confusion. He wasn't quite sure what Larson was asking of him. If anything Larson sounded like a derranged older brother doing his best to help his younger sister. "Wait," Tyren bluttered out, not fully comprehnding, "You're not her lover?"
